Lyme Disease Basics

 What is Lyme Disease?
Lyme disease is caused by a spirochete, Borrelia bergdorfi. It is
transmitted by the bite of the very small deer tick Ixodes scapularis as
well as other ticks. These ticks are common on the East Coast but also occur in the midwest and southwest, as well as other parts of the world.
They transmit Lyme disease, ehrlichiosis, babesiosis, bartonellosis and other illnesses, commonly referred to as co-infections. It is not at all  uncommon for someone with Lyme disease to also exhibit symptoms of
other illnesses.

These Guys Don't Mess Around!
Because ticks are so
tiny, they often go unnoticed by the victim!

In the United States
alone, over 150,000
cases of lyme disease
have been reported to
the CDC since national surveillance was initiated
in 1982. And approx.  20,000 new cases are reported every year.
Those are just the
reported cases!

Q: WHY DOES THE CDC
MAKE LIGHT OF LYME
ON ITS OWN WEB SITE?

Q: WHY DO DOCTORS
CONTINUE TO BELIEVE
LYME DOES NOT EXIST
OR PERPETUATE THE
IDEA THAT LYME DISEASE
IS A 30-DAY AND OUT
CURABLE DISEASE?

Q: WHY ARE DOCTORS
BEING PROSECUTED BY
AND THEIR LICENSES
SUSPENDED BY MEDICAL BOARDS FOR PRACTICING
MEDICINE AND TREATING
LYME PATIENTS?
